wamono　和物

Lit. Japanese things. A term used in *chanoyu 茶湯 in contradistinction to *karamono 唐物. It is often used for *chaire 茶入 made of Japanese materials. During the Momoyama and Edo periods, wamono were produced in Karatsu (*karatsuyaki 唐津焼), Takatori (*takatoriyaki 高取焼), Bizen (*bizenyaki 備前焼), Satsuma (*satsumayaki 薩摩焼), Tanba (*tanbayaki 丹波焼), Zeze 膳所, and Shigaraki (*shigarakiyaki 信楽焼).
