tsukuridashi kurigata 　作り出し繰形

An incised or molded decoration *kurigata 繰形, applied to an exposed architectural member such as a nosing *kibana 木鼻, or rainbow beam *kouryou 虹梁. The member and its molding are produced from a single piece of timber. This is distinguished from a molding carved from a separate block and attached to the main structure.
