|  Lit. Kinkakuji 金閣寺 style fence. A type of low, bamboo 
see-through fence *sukashigaki 
透垣 used to divide tea gardens *roji 
露地. Based on the open lattice checker fence *yotsumegaki 
四目垣, whole thin bamboo are used for the verticals *tateko 
竪子, while very thick bamboo are split for the horizontals *oshibuchi 
押縁 and the crowning *tamabuchi 
玉縁. These low fences, typically 30-50 cm, high, are associated with the temple 
Rokuonji 鹿苑寺 (Kinkakuji), Kyoto, but variants are found in many temples and gardens.
