Vertical muntins on fences are also called kakiko _q, and are frequently made of bamboo. Whole bamboo muntins are used in a grid shape for *yotsumegaki lΪ_, and kinkakujigaki ΰt_, while split bamboo muntins are used for *kenninjigaki m_. Other vegetation is sometimes gathered into bundles and used as muntins. Examples include spice bush which is used for *uguisugaki §_ and bush wood which is used for *shibagaki Δ_. 2@Lit. standing members. The longitudinal or upright slats of a fence.
