1　The flat top of an embankment *doi 土居, also called *mafumi 馬踏み. 2　An earthen embankment *doi 土居. Nagadote 長土手 is a long embankment constructed outside a castle to defend against attacking enemy troops. Kazashi-no-dote かざしの土手 is an embankment built inside the castle gates so that the enemy cannot see in to the castle .
