dezama　出狭間

A loophole *sama 狭間 that projects out from the frame of a window opening in timberframe structures such as the keep *tenshu 天守, or tower *yagura 櫓, of a castle. The loophole allows a clear view directly beneath, to the left and right sides of a building to better fire at attacking forces.
