薄葉. An extremely thin piece of paper, usually *torinokogami
鳥の子紙 or *ganpishi 雁皮紙,
that can only be used on one side. Used by women for writing poetry and letters.
See *atsuyou 厚様. 2 A name for color dying which begins with a strong color and gradually fades to white. 3 A style of court dress in which court ladies wore several layers of kimono 着物 which gradually faded from dark to whites. The top, or outer kimono was the darkest shade, and then each of the next layers was a slightly paler shade of the same color. The last one or two layers were white. |
