Also written έ°, or called kabedoko Η°. A type of alcove *tokonoma °ΜΤ, which has neither a front framing board *tokogamachi °y, nor an alcove post *tokobashira °. Instead, it has short posts hanging from the ceiling. The front wall and side wall opposite the end post attached to the wall extend outward to produce a canopy like effect. The walls are rough plaster. Below the walls is a matted alcove floor on the same level as the other mats *tatami τ. This alcove serves the same purpose as others of similar types that is, as a place to hang a piece of calligraphy a space for flower arrangements or for hanging a fan. | ||||||
