| Also read sasaebashira. A generic term for stress bearing timbers that strengthen and secure the frame of a building. They include the struts *tsuka 束, diagonally set prop, and secondary posts. These timbers are also called osaebashira 押柱 and are used to stabilize main pillars *hashira 柱, or diagonal angle braces houzue 方杖, which are used to strengthen the end of a roof framework. | ||||||
