Also obiki 尾引. Sleepers about 10cm.sq. that extend horizontally at right angle to posts that are erected on a sill *dodai 土台. A beam, called oobikiuke 大引受, supports the sleepers a little above the sill. The floor joists *neda 根太 are set, and the floors boards are laid on top of them. Floor struts *yukazuka 床束, are set on stone bases or sometimes directly on the ground about 1m apart to support the sleepers and to prevent them from warping. The flooring is laid at right angles to the floor joists but parallel to the sleepers.
