Also written 塗回床. An alcove *tokonoma 床の間, with three sides and the wall posts completely covered with plaster to form rounded corners. The *CHADOU SENTEI 茶道筌蹄, written by Inagaki Kyuusou 稲垣休叟 states that two walls, the posts and even the ceilings were plastered, and that Sen Rikyuu 千利休 (1522-91) favored this style. Myoukian Taian 妙喜庵待庵 in Kyoto is cited as a representative example. However, the *SEKISHUU SANBYAKUKAJOU 石州三百ヶ条 (late 17c) states clearly that the nurimawashidoko has a visible boarded ceiling. | ||||||
