1@Also written •˜•Ô. A board which projects diagonally out from the top of a statue canopy *tengai “VŠW, to create a fine finish. Similar to a cornice. Example: the canopy over the Tachibana Bunin Zushi ‹k•vl~Žq (8c, miniature shrine) in the *Kondou ‹à“° at Houryuuji –@—²Ž› in Nara.

2@Two curved panels on the left and right sides of the rim *shikoro èC, of a helmet *kabuto ™h. The shape and decoration of the fukikaeshi varies. The most traditional form is where the upper ridges, hachitsuki-no-ita ”«•t‚Ì”Â, of the rim curl backwards, leaving only the outer band, hishinui-no-ita •H–D‚Ì”Â, hanging down.
