byakuroku　白緑

A pale green pigment *ganryou 顔料, used in Japanese painting *nihonga 日本画. Byakuroku is made by grinding down green malachite pigment *rokushou 緑青; the smaller the particle size, the lighter the color obtained. Paints made from insoluble mineral pigments *iwa-enogu 岩絵具, are mixed with animal glue *nikawa 膠, for use.
