zakkeshitsu-in 　雑華室印

A collector's seal, kanzou-in 鑑蔵印, which was impressed on Song and Yuan period paintings *Sougenga 宋元画, after they were imported to Japan. Until recently, this seal was believed to have belonged to Ashikaga Yoshimasa 足利義政 (1436-90), but recent investigation shows that zakkeshitsu was the name of a studio or hermitage belonging to Ashikaga Yoshinori 足利義教 (1394-1441) MUMOMACHIDONO GYOUKOU OKAZARI-KI 室町殿行幸御飾記 (Tokugawa 徳川 Art Museum, Aichi prefecture). There are at present sixteen paintings which are impressed with the zakkeshitsu seal. Among them are "Quails" Uzura-zu 鶉図 (Nezu 根津 Art Museum, Tokyo and "Bamboo and Insect" Chikuchuu-zu 竹虫図 (Tokyo National Museum), both attributed to Li An-zhong (Jp. Ri Anchuu 李安忠).
