Also called yutouseki, katakuchi-ishi •ΠŒϋΞ, yuage-ishi “’—g‚°Ξ and oke-ishi ‰±Ξ. Lit. warm water-pail stone. One of the *yaku-ishi –πΞ of the *tsukubai ηLζυ set of stones in tea garden *roji ˜I’n. The yuoke-ishi is placed to the user's right of the *chouzubachi Žθ…”«, across from the *teshoku-ishi ŽθCΞ. It is a flat stone which derived its name from winter tea gatherings when the chouzubachi was emptied (for fear that ice could crack it) and a bucket of warm water was placed on the stone so that the guests could use the water to rinse their hands.
