KEY WORD : architecture / general terms
Also called komitatara 込たたら; kirizuka 切束. A short strut used on a balustrade *kouran 高欄. It connects and strengthens the balustrade, but is placed only between the bottom rail *jifuku 地覆 and the middle rail *hirageta 平桁. Unlike another strut called tatarazuka たたら束 which also is placed between the bottom and middle rail, the yomezuka has nothing above it, neither another strut, nor a strut with a bearing block, masuzuka 斗束, placed on top.
