| A wood statue technique used to join the head and body at the neck. The head and body of a Buddha statue, are carved from a single piece of wood *ichiboku-zukuri 一木造, and divided at the base of the neck below the neck grooves, *sandou 三道. The interior of the two pieces are hollowed out, and the sections are rejoined. This prevents warping in the neck section and shrinkage as the wood dries. | ||||||
