Pillars *hashira , with an inward incline. Uchikorobi pillars provide stability for *torii Ή, the gate-like entrance to a shrine *jinja _Π, or *hikaebashira T, which serve as props to shore up a fence. Pillars with uchikoribi are also found on shelters, suibansha ΥΠ, built over the places of purification at Rinnouji Taiyuuin Φ€εQ@, built in the mid. 17c, in Nikkou ϊυ, Tochigi prefecture. Uchikorobi pillars are also used on a building called Eizanji, hR, an Eight-sided Hall Hakkakudou ͺp° (757) Nara. Generally, these pillars were not used for buildings such as temple halls or a vernacular houses. | ||||||
