utsubogawara　靭瓦

Also called tanihiragawara 谷平瓦. Lit. broad valley tile. A slightly concave tile used in the valley formed by the junction of two sloping roofs on a traditional tiled roof *hongawarabuki 本瓦葺. The tile has vertical side pieces that rise up from the front end of the tile.
