Same as tsunagijiro or tsunagishiro Œqι.

1@A type of branch castle *shijou Žxι or fortification. A small-scale fortification constructed at a strategic position in between two major castles or fortifications in order to maintain communications between them. Used by troops moving from one location to the other. Where the two castles were very far apart or the terrain was difficult, several tsunagi-no-shiro were constructed. The most important of these was called tsunagi-no-nejiro Œq‚̍ͺι.

2@The innermost ward *honmaru –{ŠΫ of a castle as opposed to the secondary ward *ni-no-maru “ρ‚ΜŠΫ and tertiary ward san-no-maru ŽO‚ΜŠΫ.
