tsukebashira　付柱

Also kobashiha 小柱 or shoinbashira 書院柱. A post placed at the exterior corner of the alcove that projects, tsukeshoin 付書院 on the veranda in an aristocratic style dweling. This post is 20-30 percent smaller in scale than the main posts. It is not a supporting posts but usually had something attached to it, for example a shelf with a groove.
