Also ji-ita ’n”Β. The floorboards laid in an alcove, *tokonoma °‚ΜŠΤ. The most commonly used wood is zelkova, or red or black pine. The floor boards are connected to slender wooden strips called *zoukinzuri ŽG‹Π  that are attached to the main support posts and to the walls on three sides. The alcove frame and the alcove floor are connected by dovetail tenons, *aritsugi ‹aŒp‚¬.
