temaedatami　点前畳

Also called *dougudatami 道具畳; or kyodatami 居畳. The straw mat tatami 畳, upon which the host sits when he prepares tea in a tea ceremony room *chashitsu 茶室. The placement of the host's mat is governed by the proximity to his entrance *sadouguchi 茶道口. and to the sunken hearth *ro 炉. Temaedatami is interchangeable with the term dougudatami, meaning a mat on which the host's tea utensils are placed. The use of the word temaedatami or dougudatami is a matter of personal preference. In either case, the temaedatami can be full size or smaller *daimedatami 台目畳.
