Also read somakaku. Timber that is made square by hewing and shaving with a hatchet *ono 斧, or an adze *chouna 釿, or a broad ax *masakari 鉞. There are three sizes: oogaku 大角, 30cm square or greater; chuugaku 中角, 18-30cm square; and kogaku 小角, 6-12cm square.
