| Lit. bottom-cleaning chisel. A chisel designed to
clean out the wooden shavings which have accumulated in the base of the hole during
the process of carving out a mortise with a striking chisel, takakinomi
叩鑿. This chisel has no capping hoop, katsura 冠. The shank bends round in
a curve towards the cutting blade, which is tipped with a hook, making it easier
to scrape up shavings. |
