1　The pyramidal shaped top of a post on the handrail of a wooden bridge. If there is only a heavy base edging (*jifuku 地覆) on a veranda, the posts are heavy and short with a pyramidal top. This is also called a sarugashira. See *sarugashira 猿頭, *men 面.

2　A fived-sided handrail (*kouran 高欄) on a wooden bridge : the top is peaked, with straight sides and a flat base.
