sukashibori ranma　透彫欄間

Also called sukashi-ita ranma 透板欄間, sukashiranma 透欄間, itabori ranma 板彫欄間 and sukashikumi ranma 透組欄間. A transom with an openwork panel of cypress, paulownia or cedar, about 12mm thick, that fills the transom frame. There are innumerable designs including bamboo, flower or fruit laden branches, stylized patterns of pine trees, streams with irises, butterflies alighting on delicate reeds, cranes, fish and abstract designs.
