Seiryouijishiki Shaka　清涼寺式釈迦

Abbreviation of Seiryoujishiki Shaka Nyoraizou 清涼寺式釈迦如来像, also known as *Zuizou Shaka 瑞像釈迦. A sculpture of *Shaka 釈迦 modelled after the Shaka image Shakazou 釈迦像 at Seiryouji 清涼寺 (popularly known as Saga Shakadou 嵯峨釈迦堂) in Kyoto. The Seiryouji image itself was brought from Northern Song China to Japan by the Toudaiji 東大寺 priest Chounen �｢然 (?-1016) in 987. Copies of this image were made for temples all over Japan. The term is generic to all such images.
