The royal ease position (Sk: Maharajalilasana). A seated position used for a Buddhist image with one knee (usually the right) raised and the other folded in front of the body. This relaxed position has a worldly character and is not as formal as most other seated positions of Buddhist deities *Nyoirin Kannon @ΣΦΟΉ is usually seated in this position on a lotus base. A small bronze image in Yamato Bunkakan εaΆΨΩ, Nara, is an excellent early 9c Chinese example. The most famous image in the rinnouza position is the 9c Nyoirin Kannon image from Kanshinji ΟS in Osaka. | ||||||
