The royal ease position (Sk: Maharajalilasana). A seated position used for a Buddhist image with one knee (usually the right) raised and the other folded in front of the body. This relaxed position has a worldly character and is not as formal as most other seated positions of Buddhist deities *Nyoirin Kannon ”@ˆΣ—ΦŠΟ‰Ή is usually seated in this position on a lotus base. A small bronze image in Yamato Bunkakan ‘ε˜a•Ά‰ΨŠΩ, Nara, is an excellent early 9c Chinese example. The most famous image in the rinnouza position is the 9c Nyoirin Kannon image from Kanshinji ŠΟSŽ› in Osaka.
