A type of halo *kouhai υw used on Buddhist images, forming a free-standing ring around the head. Some rinkou consist of a single undecorated ring, seen for example on the Kichijouten ryuuzou gΛV§ (1212) in Joururiji ςΪ, Kyoto. Others are decorated with jewels, miniature Buddha figures *kebutsu »§, or radiating spokes (see *houshagata kouhai ϊΛ`υw). A halo formed by two concentric rings joined by a decorated band is called nijuu rinkou ρdΦυ. | ||||||
