Also *yuujo-e 遊女絵. The term used in Osaka for pictures of courtesans (yuujo 遊女). Also used more generally to refer to pictures of beautiful women (bijin 美人): as with the Edo period artist Okumura Masanobu 奥村政信 (1686-1764) who used "oyama ukiyo-e おやま浮世絵" as the title for his picture book "32 Model Faces of Beautiful Women" (Ehon Bijinkao-no-Hinagata Sanjuunisou 絵本美人顔之雛形三十二相). | ||||||
