A lantern placed in the water or near the water's
edge. These can be clearly viewed from rocks or a boat, and boats use them for
illumination. Although there is no one style of lantern used for this purpose,
generally the stem portion is longer with flat rather than rounded sides and the
umbrella is slightly wider than normal to allow the flame to reflect on the water.
The term okidourou therefore pertains to any lantern placed near water.
