Lit. hill castle. Also termed kyuuryou joukaku 丘陵城郭. 1　A castle built on a hillock, oka 丘, as opposed a castle on a high mountain *yamajiro 山城. 2　The term okajou may refer to a flatland mountain castle. See *hirayamajiro 平山城.
