Also nimaiori byoubu 二枚折屏風. A folding screen with two panels. Came into use in the mid-Muromachi period with a fashion for ritualized drinking of powdered tea. Most often used in the kitchen, katte 勝手 of a tea house and called katte byoubu 勝手屏風. Also used in a tea room *chashitsu 茶室 behind the brazier *furo 風炉, where the host prepares tea. Thus it is also called a *furosaki byoubu 風炉先屏風. | ||||||
