According to the SHOKUNIHONGI 続日本紀, a gate leading to the waiting area for all officials, choushuuden 朝集殿, arriving to attend important ceremonies at Heijoukyuu 平城宮 (710-80), the Imperial Palace at the Heijou Capital Heijoukyou 平城京 in Nara. This type of gate is also believed to correspond to the *outenmon 応天門 at *Heiankyuu 平安宮 at the Heian Capital Heiankyou 平安京 in Kyoto. The mibumon 壬生門 is presumed to have been a gate on the southeast side of Heiankyuu. | ||||||
