|  1 A prefix attached to the name of a structural 
member to indicate that the member is not visible. Unexposed members includes: 
a hidden roof *noyane 野屋根, hidden 
rafters *nodaruki 野垂木, or *nogoya 
野小屋, hidden ceiling notenjou 野天井, and hidden purlin within the roof framework 
*nomoya 野母屋, a hidden transverse 
beam nobari 野梁. An exposed member is called *keshou 
化粧.  2 Structural members left in a rough, unfinished state. This includes unexposed members used in a hidden roof, noyane, and roof sheathing *noji-ita 野地板. The term also applies to quarried stone left unprocessed.  |
