nijuubari 二重梁

Two-tiered transverse beams with struts between them to form part of a roof framework. The upper transverse beam is about half the length of the lower one. The lengths of the transverse beams are dependent on the intended slope of the roof. A king post is placed at the center of the upper transverse beam to support the ridge. A structure consisting of three-tiered beams is called *sanjuubari 三重梁.
