KEY WORD : architecture / general terms
A ceiling plan drawn exactly in relation to the floor plan, i.e., viewed as if a person were lying on his back looking straight up. All levels or variations in slope are captured in a flat, two-dimensional format in exactly the same scale as the floor. Any visible structural members such as pillars are shown in horizontal section. Other structural members such as if bracket complexes *tokyou 斗きょう, are seen as viewed from directly below. Such drawings generally include both the interior and the exterior areas, from beneath the eave overhang to the edge of the roof.
