mamemaki-ishi 豆撒石

Lit. thrown bean stones. A poetic name for a seemingly random arrangement of stepping stones *tobi-ishi 飛石. The quintessential example is found in the tea garden *roji 露地 at Konnichian 今日庵 in Kyoto.
