magoshouji 孫障子 | ||||||
KEY WORD : architecture / general terms
A small section within a translucent sliding screen *shouji 障子 that can be opened. It can also be a small shouji that slides vertically instead of horizontally, like an *agesage shouji 上下障子 or *nekoma shouji 猫間障子. Glass is often inserted into the two bottom rows of the magoshouji so that a garden can be viewed even during inclement weather.
