mizukumi-ishi 水汲石 | ||||||

One of the group of trump stones *yaku-ishi 役石 placed around the wash stand, hachimae 鉢前, in a tea garden. A person stands on it to scoop water. The top of the stone is flat and low, but the base is dug quite deep into the earth. The mizukumi-ishi is placed opposite to and lower thanthe tall *shoujouseki 清浄石, facing toward the garden. | ||||||
