| A type of iron clamp 8 to 15 cm long that allows a top framing beam *uchinorinuki ŕ@Ń, to be inserted into a post. This clamp is used in the construction of the lintel in an alcove *tokonoma °ĚÔ, and is also used to attach veranda *engawa ¤, boards to the framework beneath. It is paddle-shaped with two holes for nails about one-third of the way along the widest section. It tapers into a slender finger-like section that is then bent into a sharply pointed hook that is pounded into the upper side of a track or the edge of a veranda board. | ||||||
