Also kojin kiza ŒÓlæì¿. A kneeling position for a Buddhist image. The figure sits with both knees fully bent, and a straight back, in a gesture of respect or worship. The attendant demons for *En no Gyouja –ğsÒ, such as those in Ishiumadera Δn›, Shiga prefecture from the Kamakura period, sit in this position. A variation on this position, also found in raigou imagery (see *raigou-zu —ˆŒ}}), where the figure has one knee raised, usually the left is sometimes called sonkyoza çLæõ¿. | ||||||
