Fine, thin bush-strokes employed to depict animal fur or human hair, especially sideburns, beard, or eyebrows. Strokes of light and dark ink are drawn over and over, producing a soft, full effect. The brush used to create this effect is called a mensoufude 面相筆, and has thin, pointed bristles.
