|  Also pronounced touboku; also meiboku 
銘木. Timber from the tropics including red sandalwood (rosewood), ebony, ironwood, 
white sandalwood and teak. Although, Kara 唐 does not necessarily only mean from China but rather wood that is rare and beautiful. This kind of tropical 
wood is used for alcoves *toko 
床 particularly the front frame *kamachi 
框, of the alcove or a portable cupboard or tea shelf.  |
