The oldest method used to insert lattice directly into the members of the window opening. The vertical muntins are inserted into the bottom board and top board. Another method was to make a frame with the lattice already inserted so that it could be fitted into the opening between the bottom *kamachi 框 and the wall plate *daiwa 台輪.
