Paneling or plain boards used to finish the lower part of a wall. If only the term *koshibari 腰貼 is used, it refers to various types of paper used to line and protect the lowest part of a wall. It is especially characteristic in tea architecture chakenchiku 茶建築, rather rustic sukiya style *sukiya-zukuri 数寄屋造 and in aristocratic houses *shoin 書院. | ||||||
