      called uchikomi-ishi 打込石. Lit. kick-in stones. The stones used under 
      the sill *dodai 土台 
      to fill the empty spaces between the base stones neko-ishi 猫石 that 
      support the pillars of a wooden building or fence. In tea architecture, 
      these gaps are filled with small stones called *sashi-ishi 
   差石.  |
