A bright yellowish-orange color. Named after the yellow dye lily flower kanzou δΎ‘. Kanzou-iro dye was produced by mixing yellow gardenia *kuchinashi ŽxŽq with madder red *akane-iro ˆ©F or safflower *beni g, or by using a sappanwood *suou ‘h–F dye mordanted with alum. The color name kanzou-iro has been used since the Heian period and appears in GENJI MONOGATARI ŒΉŽ•¨Œκ (The Tale of Genji).
