gravel *jari 砂利, sand for
foundation sunajigyou 砂地業, and base stones and smooth rounded
large stones 20-25cm *tama-ishi
玉石, used at the base of the posts. In the early centuries 7-12c, jigyou
included the shape of the building site and the nature of the soil.
